You can go into the dungeon before killing skeletron, kinda, you can't go too deep

Waterbolt spawns along side books so if you're lucky you can pick it up early

If not gem rods are the "easiest" to get, like a diamond rod for example

Jungle armour is the best pre hardmode jungle armour

For example

There is a golem drop which increases overall crit for every weapon, but there is also a special sniper scope which only increases ranger crit

They all stack together

Night time enemies spawn and npcs sell special stuff

You can also craft new blocks

For example the gunsmith sells a quad barrel shotgun if he's in a graveyard biome, which is made by having 8 gravestones close by (edited)

you mean hallowed

it's still habitable and let's you use a desert pylon there but you don't get the desert happiness bonus

you'd have to use the clentaminator on the biome and then talk to them

and if you wanted the happiness price reduction you'd have to cleanse the area and then buy
